Certified (c) David (David) Banner
After neglecting most of my spring classes, cutting off all ties with friends, and taking a vow of celibacy, I am very proud to say that I passed the NSCA's certification examination, and am now a certified personal trainer. Is this a big deal? For me, yes (hopefully, future employers will feel the same way). Mainly because I don't have to shell out another $200 to take the test again. But also because I promised myself that I would pass the test the first time I took it. And passed it I did.
So, what is the next step in pulling off the most phenomenal feat of all time, you ask? Well, I probably won't "go pro" until the first of the year. I'll be training a few clients for a class which starts in August, though, which I'm hoping will help me develop my style and, most importantly, my confidence in my abilities.
Short term jump-offs:
- Join IDEA (done) and attend its personal trainers conference in NYC this October
- Read up on some motivation/behavior change literature
- Knock out 12 hours of school this summer which will include exercise physiology, nutrition and chemistry I and II.
- Gain some freaking weight. I imagine that my attempts at getting and keeping clients will be a tad bit more successfull if I can properly fill an XL shirt.

Nice goals. I need to actually stick to mine and not keep making excuses.
